There are a multitude of things to make out of empty toilet paper rolls and one of them is this cute Octopus figurine. The best thing about this is how quickly it can be made. Also, the minimal usage of sharp objects makes it perfect to make with little kids.
What you will need:
- Toilet paper roll
- Google eyes
Paint the toilet paper roll whatever color you want the octopus to be. You could even create a gradient with similar colors for a fun touch!
With the scissor, make a cut starting from the bottom edge of the paper roll until you reach the middle. Repeat the same process to make around 8 vertical cuts on the bottom of the roll. These will be the ‘tentacles’ of the octopus.
One optional step you can do at this point is paint little dots on each of these tentacles. Or you could even cut out small circles out of different colored paper and glue them to the tentacles.
Roll the strips outwards around a marker to give them the ‘rounded’ effect.
Draw mouth on the middle of the toilet paper roll using the markers. Feel free to let the kids draw their own different expressions.
Glue the googly eyes above the mouth.
Optional: You can also draw eyelashes around the googly eyes using a black marker.
Now you have a cute octopus made entirely out of a toilet paper roll. You could use these as puppets or just simple toys. Let the little ones use different colors and different expressions to make their own unique versions. The most important thing is to just have fun while you’re at it!
