Paper Plate Pocket

Paper plates are often great to use for large parties but what can you do with the couples of spare plates remaining after the party’s over? Why use it for this craft of course! This is one of those efficient crafts which will work as an organizer instead of just being a decorative item. So, let’s get started!

What you will need:

  • 2 paper plates
  • Paint, markers, and/or stickers for decoration
  • Tape or glue
  • Scissors
  • Ribbon
  • Hole punch

Step 1:

Paint the plates whatever color you like using the paint and markers. You only need to paint the top side of the one plate and the bottom side of the other plate as these will be the only sides showing.

Step 2:

Take the paper plate that has the bottom side colored and cut it in half using the scissors.

Step 3:

Stick the top side of the edges of the cut plate to the top side of the edges of the full plate using the glue or tape. If you want to make it extra special, create holes along the edges and thread a ribbon through these holes.

Step 4:

Decorate the joint piece using stickers and anything else you like.

You could make it look like a basket by drawing weaves or you could draw faces on top to make it look like a cartoon. The choice is entirely yours!

Step 5:

Using the hole punch create two holes at the sides where the two plates overlap. Thread a ribbon through the holes to create a handle.

For the final step, hang the finished product onto a nail or hook. Use it as a holder for cards, scrap papers, ribbons, washi tapes etc.
